PHOENIX -- A premiere red carpet event, “Celebrity Fight Night,” was Saturday at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge resort in North Phoenix.

The event celebrated 20 years of winning the fight for charities in honor of boxing legend Muhammad Ali.

Celebrities walked the red carpet excited to raise money for several causes including to help find a cure for Parkinson's disease

"You always want to be a part of something that's really good,” said retired basketball player Ralph Sampson, Jr.

"Anytime Muhammed Ali is attached to something you'd love to support it. It's a great cause a great foundation and raises a lot of money," said Richard Sherman, player for the NFL's Seattle Seahawks.

"I'm very happy to be here. Billy Crystal made me aware of it a couple of years ago," said actor Robert De Niro.

For the past 20 years the event has raised over $87 million for the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center and other charities.

"I've been here for almost all of them I think, and every year is the greatest event ever," said actor said Billy Crystal. "It's the most amazing combination of entertainers and sports figures. And we're all here for a common cause and for a great man."

The cause hits home for The Band Perry.

"Our grandfather actually had Parkinson’s when he passed away, so when we got the opportunity we were like absolutely a hundred percent tell us when to be there," said Kimberly Perry.

The band was just one of the live musical performances at the event.

There was also an auction featuring a trip to outer space and dinner with Billy Crystal and Robert De Niro.

"We'll have some fun. Great music by David Foster, Michael Bublé singing, so it's a good night," said Crystal.

Michael Bublé said he's just happy the Celebrity Fight Night doesn't require him to do any actual fighting.

"Can I be honest with you? When I used to fight in hockey, I used to do more of that kind of thing,” he said.

This event will soon go global. For the first time it will be outside of the city of Phoenix. There will be a Celebrity Fight Night in Italy in September.
