PHOENIX -- Investigators are trying to determine what sparked an early morning fire at a Phoenix home.
Fire crews from Phoenix and Glendale were called to a home in the neighborhood of 37th Drive and Happy Valley Road shortly after 4 a.m. Monday.
The attic was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived, and there was a concern that people might be trapped inside.
Performing a quick sweep, firefighters determined nobody was home.
Crews expected a difficult fight, but managed to get a handle on the flames relatively quickly and keep the fire from spreading to neighboring houses.
By 6 a.m., teams were mopping up and fire investigators were beginning their work.
Attic fires often are the result of an electrical issue like frayed or torn wiring. Investigators will have to determine if that was the case with this fire.
No injuries were reported.
