TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- A bronze bust of former President John F. Kennedy that was stolen from a downtown Tucson park late last year has been recovered.

Pima County Democratic Party Chairman Don Jorgensen says Tucson police found the bust Monday evening in a wash on Tucson's west side.

He says the bust has some damage to its base and the party will work with the city to restore it.

The bust that depicts JFK wearing a coat and tie was ripped clean off its granite base from El Presidio Park in mid-December.

The bust measures 1 foot, 8 inches in height. Together with the base, it stood about 6 feet tall.

It originally was unveiled on Nov. 22, 1964, exactly one year after Kennedy's assassination.
