PHOENIX (AP) — Gov. Jan Brewer has signed a declaration of emergency for areas outside Flagstaff that were hit by tornadoes on Wednesday.
Friday's declaration frees up $200,000 from the governor's emergency fund to help Coconino County pay for responding to the tornadoes and for repairing roads.
Twin twisters hit the community of Bellemont early Wednesday morning. About 200 homes in the small town of several hundred residents were damaged and 21 of those were declared uninhabitable. Only six minor injuries were reported.
