YUMA, Ariz. -- The Yuma County Sheriff's Office is seeking information about a boating accident involving a U.S. Border Patrol vessel.

The boat was patrolling the Colorado River Friday evening when it was involved in an accident with a private vessel at the Clear Lake inlet, according to Alfonso Zavala with the sheriff's office.

Three of the seven people on the private boat were transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center for injuries. One was later flown to St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix for life-threatening injuries. That person is in stable but critical condition at this time.

No injuries were reported on the Border Patrol boat.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation, but officials said alcohol does not appear to be a factor.

Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to contact the sheriff's office at 928-783-4427.
