YUMA, Ariz. - Agents from Yuma arrested an aggravated assault felon who was traveling east of Wellton, Ariz., on Sunday morning.
Agents patrolling the area saw a white Chevrolet Express cargo van parked on the shoulder of Interstate 8.
A check revealed the van was under a felony lookout out of Miami, Fla.
The registered owner, Charles Pearce, was a person of interest in an ongoing homicide investigation. He had a felony warrant for aggravated assault with a firearm.
Pearce was said to be armed and dangerous.
Additional agents arrived on scene and Pearce was taken into custody without incident.
During a search of the van agents found a loaded .308 rifle.
Pearce was turned over to the Yuma County Sheriff's Office for extradition to Florida.
