TOLLESON, Ariz. -- Police are turning to the public for help identifying a man whose body was found floating in a Tolleson canal more than a month ago.

The grisly discovery was made the morning of Tuesday, Oct. 16 on the southeast corner of 91st Avenue and McDowell Road. Police estimate his body had been in the water for a week or less.

More than a month later, investigators still don't have any information about the man.

"All leads have now been exhausted and we have not been receiving any new ones," said Sgt. RJ Mendoza of the Tolleson Police Department.

Police on Tuesday released a sketch of the man, hoping somebody somewhere might recognize him.

The victim is described as an older white or Hispanic heavy-set man. He was between 5 feet 8 inches and 6 feet tall, and had tattoos on his right arm of a heart and flame.

In addition, the Maricopa County Medical Examiner's Office said the man had undergone open-heart surgery due to coronary artery disease. The doctor who performed the autopsy did not say how long ago that surgery might have taken place.

Police have not released any information about how the man died and they have no idea how he came to be in the canal or where he might have gone in.

If you know anything about the man pictured in the sketch, contact Detective Heather Yost at 623-936-7186.
