SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Utah wildlife officials have relocated a baby black bear that was exploring boats and mingling with visitors at Lake Powell last weekend.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports boaters near Face Canyon spotted the animal on the beach last Friday and climbing on houseboats on Saturday.
Park rangers finally chased the 30-pound bear away from the beach, but the animal returned hours later and swam up to a houseboat.
Officials with the state Division of Wildlife Resources arrived on Tuesday to remove the bear.
They found him on a houseboat and tranquilized him.
Wayne Gustaveson with DWR says the bear jumped off the boat and started swimming but passed out, so a DWR biologist jumped in the lake and saved him.
Officials later released the bear in a remote area of southern Utah.
