PHOENIX -- Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio is auctioning off a piece of “memorabilia” from his trip to the hospital earlier this year.

Arpaio has put the sling he wore after breaking his shoulder up for auction on Ebay. The sling will be autographed by Arpaio, and will also come with five autographed photos of Arpaio wearing the sling.

The sling will be up for auction for seven days, and can be found on Ebay as “Sheriff Joe Arpaio Arm Sling.”

All of the proceeds raised from the winning bid will benefit the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Animal Safe House.

The facility operates inside the county’s closed First Avenue Jail. It allows female inmates from the Estrella Jail to take care of abused and neglected animals that were rescued from crime locations.

Arpaio, who turns 81 Friday, broke his shoulder back in February when he tripped on his way to lunch in downtown Phoenix.

“The toughest sheriff in America” took the injury in stride, joking that he had been “attacked by a sidewalk.”

Arpaio was released from the hospital after a few days and returned to work.
