TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- An Avondale woman is accused of trying to smuggle more than $200,000 worth of cocaine and $6,000 in unreported cash through the southern Arizona border at Nogales.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Dennis Deconcini crossing were inspecting an SUV when they found nearly 16 pounds of cocaine and a package containing the U.S. currency in the vehicle's firewall.
Officers seized the drugs and vehicle and referred 32-year-old Paola Dena to Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
CBP officials say the cocaine had an estimated street value of $206,000.
It was unclear Friday if Dena has a lawyer yet.
