NOGALES, Ariz. (AP) -- Police in southern Arizona are planning to target spring breakers who drink and drive next week.
The Cochise County Sheriff's Office will launch a drunk-driving task force on Sunday. It will continue through March 19.
The task force will conduct saturation patrols and sobriety checkpoints throughout the southeastern Arizona county.
Authorities hope the increased patrols and other efforts will deter impaired drivers and reduce alcohol-related collisions during the busy spring spreak.
Sheriff Larry Dever says the best measure of success for the task force will hopefully be seeing a reduction in injuries and deaths related to drunk driving.
