CHANDLER, Ariz. -- Authorities say an adult-care provider is accused of abusing three women in her care at her Chandler home.

Chandler police say 42-year-old Krysta M. Douglas was arrested Thursday on suspicion of physically and emotionally abusing vulnerable adults.

Court records show Douglas provided care for three adults at her home on the 3800 block of West Chandler Boulevard and, on Oct. 4 around 8 a.m., helped prepare them for transport to a day program facility.

One of the females got upset about a hair decoration not being in her hair and Douglas reportedly became intolerant.

Another caregiver said Douglas yelled upsetting comments at the woman and shook her. She allegedly grabbed the woman by the arms at least 10 times.

Court records say the caregiver attempted to intervene but Douglas sent her away.

The woman later got into a van seated in her wheelchair, which was secured with restraints.

Douglas drove the three adults and the other caregiver to the day program facility. She allegedly drove recklessly, making hard turns and erratic lane changes.

Court records say the erratic driving caused the wheelchair restraints to break free. The wheelchair partially tipped over and the woman hit her head on a window.

The other caregiver asked Douglas to stop driving erratically and pull over so the wheelchair could be resecured, but Douglas reportedly did not comply.

Court records say the woman had several bruises on her arms and was taken to an urgent care facility to be evaluated.
