PHOENIX -- Phoenix police arrested a suspected drunk driver who hit eight vehicles while going the wrong direction on 43rd Avenue Tuesday afternoon.

Police spokesman Officer James Holmes said Jorge Silva-Santana, 46, of Peoria, was driving a 2007 black Infinity northbound in the southbound lanes of 43rd Avenue from Indian School Road to Camelback Road at a very high rate of speed.

Silva-Santana reportedly hit four vehicles near Glenrosa Avenue but kept going. He collided with three more vehicles near Highland Avenue and another at Camelback Road, according to police.

The suspect's vehicle then stopped and caught fire.

No one was seriously hurt. Some victims were treated for minor injuries at the scene.

Silva-Santana was processed for DUI and determined to have a suspected blood alcohol level at almost three times the legal limit, according to Holmes.

He was booked into jail on suspicion of extreme DUI, endangerment and other traffic-related offenses.
