TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- The daughter of a wounded aide of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords says her father remembers the deadly attack on the political event clearly.

Jenny Douglas told reporters in Tucson Wednesday that Ron Barber, 65, is recovering after being shot in the leg, face and neck area.

Douglas says Barber has worked for the third-term Democrat ever since she went to Washington.

His daughter said he asks every day about Giffords, who was shot in the head. Douglas said Wednesday morning that she thought it would help her dad if he could see the congresswoman. Later in the day, Barber was able to visit her.

There was a posting on the Barber family's online journal, saying, "Ron spent a lot of time with Gabby, holding her hand and talking. She squeezed his hand after much pestering and then reached out for him a couple of times. He talked to her about getting back on the road."

Doctors said Giffords is less sedated and responding more.
