SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. -- Some southern Arizona residents are receiving pre-evacuation notices after a wildfire was reported on Fort Huachuca land Saturday.

The Cochise County Sheriff's Office said it is delivering the notices to the Choctaw and Calle Encinas areas at the request of the Sierra Vista Fire Department. Authorities are going door to door in the Choctaw area and utilizing the reverse 911 system in Sierra Vista.

The Aerostat Fire is burning in the lower Garden Canyon and there is a potential for structures threatened, according to the sheriff's office.

The sheriff's office is encouraging all residents in the area to be prepared in case the fire approaches or crosses the Buffalo Soldier Trail.

People are asked to avoid the area for the safety of responders.
