PHOENIX - Photographer Efren Lopez is a combat photographer for the U.S. Air Force who resides in Arizona teaching photography at Phoenix College in downtown Phoenix.

Lopez has documented real-world action and training exercises for the military around the world.

He also has captured stunning images in his home state as well.

He has a keen eye for all types of photography including architecture, scenic landscape and people in their environment.

Lopez was the runner-up in the Military First Combat Camera Workshop in 2004 and his work has been featured in various publications, including the book Arizona 24/7.

In 2008 he was awarded First Place in the Professional Photography category at the Arizona State Fair sponsored by Arizona Highways Magazine.

In the 2009 Military Photographer of the Year competition one of the photos from Afghanistan during a combat mission was awarded honorable mention.

An exhibit of photographs from the Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan will be displayed in Monterrey, California in December 2010.    

Lopez was born in Guatemala City.
