WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (AP) -- The pre-Oscar parties have begun ahead of Sunday's award presentation.
Gwyneth Paltrow, Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens and Allison Janney celebrated their Oscar-nominated sisters at Women in Film's fifth annual pre-Oscar party. Of the year's nearly 200 Academy Awards nominees, 45 are women.
Women have consistently comprised less than 25 percent of annual Oscar nominees and Cathy Shulman, president of Women in Film, Los Angeles, says "it's important we work together to increase that statistic."
Paltrow co-hosted the party at Cecconi's restaurant, where Oscar nominees and other female filmmakers gathered to talk shop, sip Champagne and celebrate their achievements.
