PHOENIX (AP) — A bookkeeper has been sentenced to more than two years in prison for embezzling nearly $650,000 from a business on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community in Scottsdale.

Federal prosecutors say 46-year-old Yolanda Enos was given a 27-month prison sentence Monday, ordered to pay full restitution and perform 100 hours of community service.

Enos, of Mesa, pleaded guilty in August to a felony offense of theft in excess of $1,000 on an Indian reservation.

Authorities say Enos worked as an office manager for a family-owned business that operated a convenience store.

She admitted to stealing about $649,675 over a four-year span starting in January 2002 by taking random amounts of cash from the store cashiers' envelopes.

The embezzlement was discovered in January 2006 after one of the bank deposits Enos had prepared was found to be $100 short and the store owners questioned her about it.
