GILA BEND, Ariz. -- Six men were rescued Monday morning after walking in the desert for 10 days.
Officials with the Maricopa Sheriff's Office said they were found near Interstate 8 in Gila Bend, which is 30 miles southwest of Phoenix.
The men relied on cactus water to survive, and became ill from the desert plant and high temperatures before calling the sheriff's office for help.
Authorities said the men apparently entered the U.S. illegally and were abandoned by their guide.
The names, ages and nationalities of the men weren't immediately available.
