ORO VALLEY, Ariz. -- Four men have been accused of fraud for allegedly using counterfeit bills to purchase items from a Target store in Oro Valley.
Oro Valley police said three men used counterfeit $20 bills to purchase nearly $600 worth of merchandise from the store in the 10000 block of North Oracle on Friday. Police said the men then went to a Target in Marana and tried to exchange the purchased items for cash.
Officers stopped the three men as they left the Marana store.
The suspects told police they were traveling through town and were staying at a local hotel.
Officers obtained a search warrant and said they found items used to make counterfeit money in the hotel room.
A fourth man was taken into custody at the hotel.
The four suspects were booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Center. Billy Hamilton, Akeem Johnson and Ronnie Ringo were all charged with nine counts of forgery, fraud schemes and organized retail theft. Michael Hamilton was charged with 14 counts of forgery and fraud schemes.
