PHOENIX – Three people have been indicted in connection with a Chandler bestiality case.

Maricopa County sheriff's deputies arrested a third suspect in the investigation on Sept. 18. Mary Kanitz, 48, was taken into custody at the Phoenix plastic surgeon's office where she works.

Christopher Lynn Jackson, 49, and Josephine Erikson, 61, were arrested two days prior.

An Arizona grand jury has indicted all three suspects on charges of bestiality. According to the indictment, the three are accused of knowingly engaging in sex acts with a dog, according to sheriff's officials.

The bestiality investigation began after Jackson was arrested Sept. 3 on aggravated assault charges in another case. Jackson allegedly branded his initials on his then-girlfriend's genitals. Investigators reported finding a branding tool and butane torch in his Chandler home.

A search of Jackson's home also uncovered a video of him, Erikson and Kanitz with a male German shepherd.

"All crimes involving animals, including bestiality, are a priority for my deputies," Sheriff Joe Arpaio said in a news release. "And while neglect and abuse of animals is inexcusable in my opinion, acts of bestiality like the ones seen on this video tape are incomprehensible."

Arpaio said the bestiality investigation is continuing as deputies are determining whether there are any more suspects involved in the case.
