PHOENIX -- Three adults were arrested after a Phoenix toddler was scalded and medical attention was not sought for several days.
According to court documents, the 3-year-old girl was put in the bathtub by her father's girlfriend, Kenyatta Gill, 31, after urinating in her clothes on Dec. 9.
Gill told police that she ran the bath water and placed the girl in the tub with her underwear still on. She said she saw the burns when she laid the child on her bed.
Gill and the girl's father, Terrell Williams, 28, decided to treat the burns themselves. Court records show the couple gave the victim pain medication and applied antiseptic spray to the areas.
The child's skin continued to peel off and blister over the next few days and the couple decided to seek help.
The girl was transported to the Maricopa County Medical Center on Dec. 12. She suffered second-degree burns to her left buttocks and hip and required skin grafts.
Police arrested Gill, Williams and Gill's brother, Aaron Alston, who lives with the couple and their two children.
Police said Alston, 25, made no attempt to get the child medical assistance. He is facing one count of child abuse. His bond was set at $10,000.
Williams faces one count of child abuse and his bond was set at $15,000.
Gill faces two counts of child abuse. Her bond was set at $20,000.
