PHOENIX (AP) -- Authorities say charges are pending against a suspected impaired driver after a crash at a west Phoenix intersection left two women dead.
Phoenix police identified the two victims Friday as 35-year-old Nerty De Gutierrez and 29-year-old Elvia Gutierrez.
It isn't immediately clear if the two women are related.
Police say a 28-year-old man driving a sports car at a high rate of speed allegedly ran a red light and collided with a vehicle carrying the two women about 1 p.m. Thursday.
It happened at 43rd Avenue and Indian School Road.
The women were taken to the hospital where they died from their injuries.
Police say the man is being treated at a hospital for non-life threatening injuries and he'll be charged upon his release.
The man's name hasn't been released yet.
