PHOENIX -- Two women were injured trying to break up a dog fight at a west Phoenix home Wednesday.
It occurred near 86th Avenue and Indian School Road.
The owner of the dogs was bitten on her hand and the other woman who stepped in to stop the fight was hospitalized with more serious injuries, according to Maricopa County Animal Care and Control.
Six dogs, including three pit bull mixes, were impounded at an animal control facility. Animals must be quarantined for 10 days after an attack.
According to animal control, the owners do not want one of the pit bull mixes back because they have had other problems with the dog.
A chihuahua that was not involved in the fight remains in the home.
Animal control says none of the dogs were spayed or neutered.
