GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Two people were transported to hospitals after being hit by a car while crossing a Glendale street Wednesday night.
A 51-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman were crossing Thunderbird Road from south to north near 51st Avenue shortly before 7:30 p.m. when they were struck by a westbound Toyota sedan, according to Glendale Police Sgt. Jay O'Neill.
The initial investigation showed the pedestrians were not inside a crosswalk, O'Neill said.
The 36-year-old driver of the Toyota remained on scene. Police do not believe the driver was impaired or speeding.
O'Neill said the man's injuries were life-threatening and the woman's were serious but non-life-threatening.
Police closed Thunderbird Road in both directions from 51st to 52nd avenues but said it should be open by the Thursday morning commute.
