PHOENIX (AP) -- Lawyers for two Arizona death row inmates set for execution in the coming weeks want a federal judge to force the state to turn over more information on the drug it plans to use.
The federal public defenders for Edward Schad and Robert Glen Jones Jr. say in court filings that Arizona has a history of having problems legally obtaining execution drugs and assuring they aren't expired.
They want more information on the pentobarbital the state plans to use at Schad's scheduled Oct. 9 execution and Jones' scheduled execution on Oct. 23.
They say the state refuses to reveal the drug's source and expiration date.
Lawyers say a court hearing on their clients' request to block the executions unless the state provides the information is tentatively set for Friday.
