Man accidentally shoots teen brother in the face

PHOENIX -- A 14-year-old was taken to the hospital Friday morning after he was accidentally shot while his adult brother was showing off a gun.

It happened at a home in the area of 48th Street and Baseline Road.

According to police, the teen's 20-year-old brother, Gabriel Roman Valenzuela, was recklessly handling the weapon when it accidentally went off.

The teen was shot in the cheek and jaw. He was transported to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Valenzuela was booked for aggravated assault, endangerment and outstanding warrants.
