NOGALES, Ariz. -- U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Port of Nogales found more than 2,400 pounds of marijuana in a shipment of jalapeños.

CBP officers at the Mariposa cargo facility Wednesday referred a Mexican national for additional inspection of the tractor-trailer he was driving.

After a narcotics-detection canine alerted to the presence of drugs in the trailer, officers found 105 bales of marijuana hidden among the jalapeño peppers.

The marijuana was worth more than $1.2 million.

The 50-year-old truck driver was arrested and turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.

The drugs and truck were processed for seizure.
