As we continue to staff the 3TV News at 10pm newscast we want to introduce you to everyone. There are so many people behind the scenes that put a newscast together. I'm excited to introduce you to Marcy Mcmacken, Assignment Manager.
Marcy, tell us a little about yourself:
I graduated from the University of Arizona in 1995 with a Major in Media Arts.
I have worked in television news for 14 years, starting in Tucson, AZ. And moved to Phoenix in 1999 to Work for for KPHO-CBS. Worked at KPHO for 10 years and came on board at KTVK in February 2010, as the night-side Assignment Manager.
Still working on my Masters Degree at ASU in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on Institutional Ethnography applied to television news.
What do you love about working the Assignment desk?
I love working the Assignment Desk because it helps organize every aspect of a newsroom, from assigning reporters and photographers to stories, listening to police and fire scanners for breaking news, networking with various public relations companies and government public information officers, tweeting KTVK news stories out to my followers, to always looking for different, unique story ideas. The information for almost all our news stories comes mostly from the Assignment Desk. When it comes to breaking news in the city and State, the Assignment Desk is usually the first to know.
