PHOENIX -- I love downtown Phoenix and that has nothing to do with the fact that I was born just a couple of miles away!  Needless to say, I love shooting promos downtown.   It’s something we have embraced ever since we launched 3TV News @10 a couple of years ago.  When it came time to update our promos, I knew that downtown was exactly where we wanted to be once again.  After director of photography Shane Sisson and I braved the downtown heat, we picked a perfect one-stop location for our night-time shoot.

We met Carey Peña, Fields Moseley and Gary Harper at Jefferson and Second streets at
8 p.m. on a Saturday.  One of our live trucks met us to provide some news "atmosphere."  We had the the Legends digital billboard on JeffersonStreet play back 3TV’s logo and talent names for additional imagery.

While we  were there, fans, including a couple of bike-patrol officers, stopped by to say, "Hi," and check out the scene.  Not one to let an opportunity pass us by, I commandeered Brooke Brizzee, her aunt and her brother to interact with Carey and Fields.  Though you won’t see them in the spot, they were a big help on the shoot and you can see them in our slideshow.  Thanks much, Brooke and family!

We also shot some promos with Carey and Fields that you will probably see in the future.  These were shot at The Westin Phoenix Downtown.

The Westin Phoenix Downtown offers some spectacular downtown views and it wasn’t long before we thanked our lucky stars -- and complex director of public relations and all-around wonder woman Katie Brashear -- for allowing us to shoot there. If you are looking for a great, ultra contemporary spot for a staycation, The Westin could be your dream location, too.  \

The Westin Weekends invites guests to personalize their experience with extended breakfast hours and a 3p.m. check-out.  Plus you gotta check out the fabulous restaurant Province.  For more details go to www.westin.com/weekends.  A special thanks to Katie Brashear, director of sales and marketing, David Sobek and all The Westin Phoenix Downtown staff for their gracious hospitality.

I hope you enjoy our behind-the-scenes photos from The Westin and downtown Phoenix.  Can you spot the sky-high window washers whot were working behind the shot of Carey?  Once I saw them, I could not look away!

And by the way, the woman posing with Gary Harper is more than a fan, she’s his lovely wife!  She came along to celebrate Gary’s birthday between takes.  Happy belated birthday, Gary.  We’re sure glad you’re on our side!
