Greetings and salutations—
The talk here in the newsroom is about a couple big interviews that aired last night—the Sandusky “I horsed around with boys in the shower, but I’m not a pedophile” interview, and the remarkable Gabrielle Giffords interview (#Giffords3TV). Tonight at 10, we’ll be playing some new clips, including perhaps the funniest moment of the Giffords interview and perhaps the most disturbing part of the Sandusky interview. Fields is talking to a local sex therapist about what might be going on in Sandusky’s mind. That ought to be interesting. And Stacey Delikat is chatting with a young Valley man named Adam who sees inspiration in the Giffords interview because he’s been battling a brain injury, too.
Also tonight, some interesting “law and order” stuff, including the profane ramblings of the Baseline Killer. We’ll tell you what he said after he told a judge to “pardon my French.” And a convicted killer flips the bird before they give him the needle. Strange happenings indeed.
Another story getting a lot of buzz is the fiery exchange between Arizona Senator John McCain and Defense Secretary Leon Panetta about withdrawal in Iraq. Senator McCain makes a pretty bold claim, and Carey’s going to explore that at 10.
As always, we welcome your feedback on the stories of the day, and anything happening in your neck of the woods. As we say to the reporters heading out to their live shots, we’ll see you on TV.
