PHOENIX -- An apartment in central Phoenix was damaged by a fire Monday morning.
It happened at approximately 10 a.m. at 22nd and Roosevelt streets.
When firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke and fire billowing out of a second-floor apartment, according to Capt. Benjamin Santillan with the Phoenix Fire Dept.
The fire was contained to one unit but there was water damage to the unit below.
Ten people were displaced but they will be relocated to other units on the property. The property is used as a transitional facility to help individuals become productive members of society.
There were about 30 firefighters working the incident.
None of the occupants or firefighters was injured.
Investigators have not determined how the fire started. The cause of the fire under investigation.
