PHOENIX -- Police are investigating a fatal truck-pedestrian wreck in Phoenix.

It happened Monday morning on Bethany Home Road at 43rd Avenue. Bethany Home Road was closed in both directions while officers conducted the on-scene portion of their investigation.

Aerial video from the Fort McDowell Casino News Chopper showed a red pickup with a broken headlight stopped in the middle of the street.

Police are trying to piece together the moments leading up to the collision.

Officers said it looks like the victim, a man in his early 60s, was leaving his home. He was crossing the street, but was not in crosswalk when the truck hit him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the pickup, an 81-year-old man, stopped and remained at the scene as the law requires.

Police do not believe impairment was a factor in the wreck.
