SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Two people were killed and two others were injured in a single-vehicle car crash about noon on Sunday in Scottsdale.
A white Ford SUV was traveling northbound on Scottsdale Road at a high rate of speed when the 46-year-old female driver apparently lost control, according to Scottsdale police spokesman Officer David Pubins.
The SUV struck the median and collided with a tree on the west side of the road, just north of McCormick Parkway.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. She has been identified as Valerie McKay, of Scottsdale.
Three adult passengers were transported to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn Medical Center. Londo Burns, 63, of Scottsdale, died from his injuries, according to police. The other two were treated for injuries that were not life-threatening.
Pubins said speed was a factor in the collision and alcohol may have been.
