According to witnesses, the gunman walked up to a group of people playing basketball at the park near 107th Avenue and Camelback Road and opened fire.

Police said Dershawn Stuard, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other victim, a 14-year-old male, was transported to a hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.

Police believe the shooting was gang-related.

Crump said the suspect fled northbound from the scene on foot and was being followed by witnesses. Police did not have a working suspect description Thursday night. He was described only as a Hispanic male in his teens.
