MESA, Ariz. -- One person was wounded in an apparent drive-by shooting at a Mesa home early Tuesday morning.

It happened at about 2 a.m. in the area of 96th Street and Balsam Avenue, which is between Broadway Road and Main Street.

According to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, the homeowner told deputies the gunfire -- several shots -- came from a vehicle as it drove by her home.

Her roommate was hit in the foot. Paramedics took that person to Mountain Vista Hospital. The victim is expected to make a full recovery.

Neighbor Krystal Jones said she heard eight to 10 shots from what she described as a "small-caliber pistol."

Video from the scene showed several bullet holes in the wall of the house.

Investigators spent the morning scouring the scene for evidence.

It is not clear if the home was targeted or if this was a random incident.
