PHOENIX -- A woman was killed and two other people were injured in a two-vehicle crash in west Phoenix Monday evening.
It happened around 6:15 p.m. near 111th Avenue and Camelback Road.
Phoenix police Sgt. Trent Crump said the driver of a Chevrolet Suburban was westbound on Camelback Road attempting to turn left onto southbound 111th Avenue when the vehicle collided with an eastbound white Nissan Sentra.
The Suburban hit the driver's side of the Sentra, causing it to rotate and head toward the southeast corner of the intersection. As the Sentra left the roadway, the passenger side of the vehicle hit a traffic signal pole.
Although the passenger of the Sentra was wearing a seat belt, Crump said she sustained critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. She has been identified as Shanteesha Sharp, 23.
The drivers of the two vehicles were wearing seat belts and suffered injuries that were not life-threatening. Both drivers were transported to local hospitals for medical treatment.
Crump said there were no indications of impairment.
The investigation is ongoing.
