SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Thirteen people were involved in a wreck at a Scottsdale intersection Tuesday morning.
It happened at Chaparral and Scottsdale roads.
Details were not immediately available, but aerial video from the Fort McDowell Casino News Chopper showed a Kia with extreme front-end damage up against a pole. There also was a 12-passenger Ford van with its hood up and back and sides door open sitting facing north in the middle of the southbound lanes.
According to Scottsdale police Sgt. Mark Clark, the van was pulling out of a hotel driveway, crossing the northbound lanes of Scottsdale Road to go south. The Kia hit the van as it was making its turn.
The driver of the Kia was not hurt.
"The van had 12 people in it, who were in town for a sports training camp," Clark said in an email to media outlets.
Those people are players for one of the San Francisco Giants' minor league teams.
There are conflicting reports about injuries.
Police and fire spokesmen said either three or four people affiliated with the Giants were hurt and taken to a hospital, while Giants spokeswoman Staci Slaughter says six Giants minor league players were transported.
Clark said none of the injuries was life-threatening.
Slaughter says Giants team trainer Dave Groeschner is headed to the hospital to check on the players.
The baseball club holds training for its minor league teams in Scottsdale. The Giants also come to Scottsdale for spring training.
Northbound Scottsdale Road was closed north of Chaparral Road for about 90 minutes.
