PHOENIX - A woman was gunned down in a Phoenix parking lot and her killers remains at large.

The victim, 48-year-old Estella Navarro, was a pillar of the south Phoenix community. Phoenix police made a plea to the public on Wednesday to help them find Navarro’s killer.

Sgt. Andy Hill says, "We’re going to need the public’s help." Detectives need help solving the cold-blooded murder of a well-known, well-liked and well-respected member of the south Phoenix community.

Navarro was a wife and mother who was gunned down in the parking lot of a shopping center near a Kmart store by who police believe was a would-be robber.

Sgt. Hill says, "If you want to use the word stalking, or preparing or lying in wait for a victim, that’s exactly what they were doing, plotting their time. Our investigators fully believe that that’s what happened and we believe that they may do it again."

Police say at the time of the shooting, Estella Navarro had just gone out to do some shopping after bringing her husband home following a stay at the hospital. Her close-knit family is said to be devastated. Police say they want to find her killers.

Sgt. Hill says, "I can tell you this family is very distraught. There is a 20-year-old daughter, a 16-year-old son who have lost their mother...a man who was married to a woman for 23 years, almost 24 hours who has lost his wife."

Hill also said the extended family and the community has suffered a very big loss. Navarro acted in family community and in her church. Anyone with information is asked to call Phoenix police or 480-WITNESS (480-TESTIGO). Police are searching for two suspects at this time. They are both maen. One is described as a light-skinned young man. The shooter is described as a young black man.
