There's a new weight-loss program for women in the Valley. It’s pretty unique and the program has lots of ladies looking slimmer, but it's not based on losing weight.

It's hard to believe Litchfield Park resident Cherie Havland has time to play around at the park. This 50-something grandmother works long hours as a hairdresser, but still manages to come out to this Glendale park five times a week to work out at the Back 2 Basic boot camp. How does she find time?

"It’s sacrifices you make and you just make them,” Havland said. “It’s an investment in yourself.”

"It's speed drills, power drills, jumping, running, climbing, little bit of everything,” said Back 2 Basic personal trainer Tara Thorbin.

Kind of like the stuff we did in gym classi n elementary school. Remember crab walks? Back 2 Basic boot camp seems to be just that. How many of us worried about our weight in the fifth grade?

"First, it’s not about losing weight,” Thorbin said. “I don’t push losing weight, because we have too many weight problems in this country. I push how you look in the mirror."

"My clothes fit. I looked better and it didn’t matter what the scale said," Havland said.

But what does matter is that Havland lost three dress sizes and she's still going strong. She rarely misses a class.

"It’s being accountable to yourself and your class,” Havland said.
