Looking for new foods to add into your healthy eating plan?
We'll show you a new organic product making waves in the frozen food aisle.
Grocery shopping can be fun, especially when you're looking to incorporate new foods in your weight-loss plan or healthy lifestyle.
"I developed them in response to patients who had a lot of time constraints but really wanted to eat healthfully," Dr. Laryn Callaway said.
Callaway, a naturopathic physician, is talking about her new frozen entrees called Organic Bistro Whole Life Meals.
"No one has looked at the best current nutritional science that says we need lots of fiber, lots of healthful fats, lean protein, no added salt," Callaway said. "We need something that is going to fill us for four to five hours, not just a couple of hours. So I put these criteria together and came up with the meals."
The meals she came up with include ginger chicken, wild salmon and chicken citron. Each entree comes with different sides that range from vegetables to a green tea sauce.
"I add different high-fiber ingredients like nuts to our pilafs," Callaway said. "It also increases the good fats. Edamame, very high in fiber, high in omega 3 fats. Clearly, the salmon is high in omega 3 fats. We don't add sea salt or any kind of salt."
The doctor also said the meals don't have any dairy products and are gluten free.
"I definitely specifically selected ingredients that have unique nutritional attributes and additionally taste really good," Callaway said.
So what did some customers at Sprouts Farmers Market think about these organic frozen entrees?
"I think it's very tasty and looks like it's healthy," Karen Bean said.
You can buy Organic Bistro Whole Life meals at certain stores around the Valley or online.
