PHOENIX -- When it comes to job hunting, résumés and follow-up letters or calls just aren't enough anymore. You also need put yourself out there online.

Ryan Naylor, founder of LocalWork.com, shared some tips with 3TV's Kaley O'Kelley. It's all about making yourself standout.

"Job seekers are trying anything they can do to get ahead of the pack," Naylor said.

One way to do that is with a short online video.

"Show some experience that your resume won't," Naylor suggested. He said a video is a great way to showcase yourself and give a potential employer exactly who you are.

"It doesn't need to be professional quality, just enough to show off your personality," he said.

Naylor says you also need to think social, as in social media.

Clean up any profiles you have out there. Potential employers will look at those to learn more about you so you want to make sure you're presenting a positive picture. Enjoying a good party is one thing. Posting drunken photos or video clips is quite another. Check your privacy settings and be very careful about what -- and how much -- you share.

Take advantage of everything LinkedIn has to offer, including recommendations.

Join Twitter, if you haven't already, and follow people in the company to which you are applying. Know what they're talking about and find a way to contribute to those conversations.

Finally, make sure you're using a professional-sounding email address. There are several free email services available, so there's no excuse not to have one.
