Oak Creek Canyon Closures

To protect tourists and others during severe flooding, officials will close public recreation areas on national forest lands in Oak Creek Canyon north of Sedolna starting July 7 for the duration of the monsoon. The entire west side of Highway 89A north of

Slide Rock State Park is currently closed to public recreation.

Kitchen On Street

On July 7, the Kitchen On Street kitchen will begin food service to a medical clinic in Scottsdale. This revenue source allows KOS to address the more than 500 hungry children on the waiting list for a Bag of Hope.  The street kitchen will be open to the public (breakfast and lunch) as well; when someone buys a meal not only do they eat some great food - their purchase feeds a child for the weekend through the Bags of Hope program.

Open to the public from Monday, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays:

9am-11am breakfast - 11:30am-1:30pm lunch. The menu changes daily.

My Sisters' Charities Thrift Store

The Valley sisters behind my Sister's Closet, Attic and Well Suited have opened their first Thrift Store with 100% of their net profits going to their new 501 (c3) foundation. My Sisters' Charities Thrift Store.

The new Thrift Store is part of the My Sisters' Charities foundation, a 501©3 organization and will contribute revenue, manpower and unsold merchandise to the foundation. When you make a purchase at My Sisters’ Charities Thrift Store - it is a tax free and 100% of the net profits from the store benefit a newly formed 501 (c3) called My Sisters' Charities. 

A special Grand Opening celebration will be held on Friday, August 1st at 10 a.m. Get in line early -- the first 50 through the door will receive a 50% off certificate to be used on everything in the store (no limit) on a designated day.

MODS PIZZA

MOD Pizza, a Seattle-based company that operates 16 locations in Washington, Oregon and California. MOD Pizza claims to be "the originator of the 'build your own pizza' concept" and has set its sights on Gilbert for the beginning of its Arizona expansion.

The grand opening is Tuesday, July 8th at 4pm, and proceeds from all sales will be donated to the United Food Bank of Arizona to support their mission of feeding families throughout Arizona. On Monday, the 7th, we will have a friends and family evening beginning at 5pm. 

The first MOD Pizza in Arizona will be at 2904 South San Tan Village Parkway, inside the San Tan Village shopping center. The 2,400-square-foot store will feature a "large outdoor patio, high ceilings and a hip, inspired interior."

The menu lets diners build their own pizza in either mini ($4.47), regular ($7.17), or mega ($9.17). You can also build a "pizza salad" that features greens and toppings on an asiago pizza crust.
