GILBERT, Ariz. -- The creation of lifelong friends Rachel and Erica, Waffle Crush is bringing a level of sophistication and fun to the gourmet food truck industry.

The two women will be the first to tell you that the waffles they make aren't your run-of-the-mill waffles. They're Belgian liège waffles. Made with a brioche-like dough, chunks of pearl sugar are caramelized on the outside of each waffle, giving it a unique flavor -- richer, denser, sweeter and chewier than traditional waffles.

Rachel and Erica say theirs are the first authentic liège waffles in Arizona.

You can either go with one of Waffle Crush's most popular menu items  -- berry, mellow, nana or scoop -- or you can build your own. Rachel and Erica offer Nutella and Biscoff spreads in addition to chocolate filling. On the fruit front, you can choose from bananas, strawberries or raspberries.

Stuffed or topped, there's no denying that Waffle Crush's fare is delish.

Kaley O'Kelley called them "the bomb-diggity." Javier Soto was too busy eating the waffles to say anything about them. There is no highe praise.

Keep up with the waffle truck, including a schedule of where the goodness will be, via social media.
