SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Valley golfers are celebrating the grand opening of a new golf and entertainment complex in Scottsdale.

Topgolf, which opens June 9, is billed as an entertainment complex where the competition of sport combines with your favorite local hangout. Think of it as driving range meets bowling alley meets bar and grill.

"Topgolf is an entertainment destination," says Jennifer Castro of Topgolf."We are a full-service restaurant and bar. We offer 230 television screens throughout the venue so you can watch your favorite sports games. You can practice your golf swing. We have 102 golf bays on three different levels. And we also have our roof-top terrace where we have live music Friday and Saturday nights."

The three-story golfing range is a first for the Valley.  It consists of 65K square feet of fun on a 12-acre site. The 102 Topgolf climate-controlled bays can fit up to 612 players at one time. The company estimates it will serve 450K visitors its first year of operation in the Phoenix market, with a 10-year economic impact on the area of more than $264.5 million.

Players hit golf balls containing computer microchips that track each shot's accuracy and distance while also awarding points for hitting targets on the outfield. Each facility offers an upscale, laid-back experience that features climate-controlled hitting bays.

Although Topgolf serves plenty of pros, it can can be played by all skill-levels and all ages. Nearly half of all Topgolf guests describe themselves as "non-golfers." About 25-30% of Topgolf players are females, a far higher percentage than the number of women who play golf nationally (about 18%).

A game of Topgolf can be played for between $25 - $45 per hour, depending on whether it is a peak or off-peak time of day. Clubs are provided, though many avid golfers chose to bring their clubs with them to Topgolf.

Folks visiting Topgolf can also sample some truly unique food, including injectable doughnut holes that you get to fill with syringes full of jelly. "We're an event venue," says Castro. "We're the place where you can go hang out with your best friends, or just come out on a Saturday night and enjoy the rooftop terrace and live music. We also have a 95 percent 'from-scratch' kitchen."

Topgolf also takes its role in the community seriously, sponsoring dozens of local charitable events every year. The facility will employ about 450 full and part-time employees including 2-3 golf professionals.

The facility is located at 9500 E. Indian Bend Rd. in Scottsdale. Cross streets are the 101 & Indian Bend, right next to Talking Stick Resort. To learn more about Topgolf, visit www.Topgolf.Com.
