FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- Snowmaking is underway this week in Northern Arizona in preparation for ski season. Opening day is just two weeks away.
It's the first time Snowbowl Ski Area has been able to set an opening day so far out since this is the first season they're making their own snow. Opening day is Nov. 29.
Cold temperatures and low humidity during the nighttime hours have made for great snowmaking conditions.
Trails projected to be open on the first day include Hart Prarie, little Spruce and Southern Belle, including Sunset Terrain Park.
Arizona Snowbowl will have a booth at the Ski Pro Avalanche Sale this weekend at the Phoenix Convention Center. They are offering season passes at pre-season sale rates, a three-pack of lift tickets for only $99, and free coupon for one $40 lift ticket with any purchase during the Avalanche Sale.
The first 30 people through the doors will get a free Sunday-Friday Snowbowl lift ticket.
The avalanche sale is Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Visit AvalancheSale.com for more information.
Mountainside Fitness is offering a unique class to get people in shape for ski season. The Black Diamond Body class is offered at all of their Valley locations and includes giveaways for lift tickets to Snowbowl.
