PHOENIX -- It really is easier than you may think to make your own natural, effective and inexpensive cleaning products. Here are three great ones for the bathroom and kitchen.

Soft cleaning scrub
1 cup baking soda (generic brand is fine – buy in large size at big box or warehouse stores)
1/3 cup Dr. Bonners Castile Soap (find at drug stores and health stores)
2 Tbsp. water
2 Tbsp. white vinegar

Put all ingredients in a squirt bottle or plastic storage dish with a tight top. Use as you would any soft scrubbing product. It will dry out some between uses, but just add a little warm water to it and shake or stir.

Toilet bowl cleaner
Shut the water off at the tank and flush. That will remove most of the water in the toilet bowl.

Sprinkle on 1/2 cup of baking soda. Combine 1/4 cup of white vinegar and 10 drops of Tea Tree Oil. Find Tea Tree Oil at drug stores. Let sit until foaming stops and then scrub with toilet brush.

Turn on water at tank and swish one last time and flush.

Disfecting cleaner for hard surfaces
In a spray bottle combine the following:
2 cups water
1/4 cup white vinegar
1/4 tsp.Tea Tree Oil
1/4 tsp. fragrance oil (eucalyptus is a good choice to combine with the Tea Tree)

Spray on hard bathroom and kitchen surfaces, wait 5 minutes and then wipe. This is safe for food prep areas.
