PHOENIX -- What a weekend for one Arizona teen. 18 year old Lexe Richardson was just crowned Miss Teen United States!

Lexe competed in Washington, D.C. against young women from every state as well as Guam, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. The Prescott teen says she's still trying to take it all in.

"It hasn't sunk in yet," she told Yetta Gibson on Tuesday's Good Morning Arizona. "It's extremely surreal."

Lexe has been competing in pageants since she was six years old. She's been to six national pageants but said she's never even placed in the top ten before.

Now, she's excited to raise awareness about her platform, which is working with adults and children with developmental disabilities. The honor student also does peer mediating, and has made an appearance with the Prayer Child Foundations.

The recent graduate of Boulder Creek High School will attend Arizona State University in the fall.

Born in Prescott Arizona, Lexe's heart is with the fallen firefighters. After she left our 3TV studios Tuesday morning, she went straight up to Prescott for the memorial service.
