PHOENIX -- Most of Arizona's water is considered "hard," meaning it has a high mineral content.

It is generally not a health concern but can cause problems for homeowners. Hard water is the culprit behind soap scum and can cause the stiffening or fading of clothes in the washing machine.

The Scale Blaster is a new, eco-friendly device created to solve hard water problems without the use of salt or chemicals. It also does not require maintenance.

The unit sends out a sonic frequency, which prevents adhesion of limescale deposits in your pipes, shower heads, faucets, washer, dishwasher and water heater. It also dissipates existing buildup.

The Scale Blaster works for PVC and copper pipes.

It installs easily near the main water shut-off valve (the main incoming water source on the interior only).

Consumers are advised to allow about 90 days for maximum performance.
