PHOENIX -- The Melrose District is home to a new kind of coffee shop and cafe. It's run by Catholic Charities Community Services , and proceeds will go to various programs that benefit the community.

The Refuge, located at 4727 N. Seventh Ave., will serve coffee and teas, as well as a variety of wines and artisan beers. The Refuge will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Guests can also enjoy daily happy hour 3-6 p.m. with live music and entertainment on the weekends.

Proceeds from the café will fund much needed nonprofit services in the community.

"Inside The Refuge, you'll find a gallery of hand-crafted art made by refugees from around the world," said Steve Capobres, managing partner at The Refuge. "Proceeds from the sale of the work directly benefit the artist. Net proceeds from food, beverage and merchandise sales support services for our community's most vulnerable."

Funding will be provided to various programs that shelter the homeless and abused, protect and nurture children, strengthen and reunify families, welcome and integrate refugees, aid those in crisis, and help the impoverished.

Daily: 7 a.m.-9 p.m.

Daily happy hour: 3 p.m.-6 p.m.
